{"id":2,"date":"2015-08-01T18:36:21","date_gmt":"2015-08-01T18:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/isabelalvarezsancho.com\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2025-02-02T01:02:47","modified_gmt":"2025-02-02T01:02:47","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.isabelalvarezsancho.com\/index.php\/sample-page\/","title":{"rendered":"About me"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am a Professor of Spanish at Oklahoma State University and the President of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asturianstudies.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Asturian Studies \/ SAnTINA<\/a>, an academic initiative aimed to develop the field of Asturian Studies internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I specialize in twenty and twenty-first century Iberian Cultural Studies. My research examines conceptualizations of time in the art and culture created after an event does away with a common vision of the world. I have examined narratives written in exile after the Spanish Civil War, an episode that, for many, meant a separation not only from the Spanish territory but also from its official national history. I analyze exiles&#8217; understanding of temporality in novels and autobiographies, as it pertains to history and to the future. I am also interested in post-2008 cultural production. I have studied how some recent Iberian cinema formulates visions of possible futures. My most recent work on contemporary Asturian music explores new engagements with tradition in a community with a minoritized language. My scholarly writing has appeared in\u00a0<em>Bulletin of Hispanic Studies<\/em>,\u00a0<em>MLN<\/em>, <em>Catalan Review<\/em>, <em>Lletres Asturianes<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Linguistic Minorities in Europe Online<\/em>, among other journals.\u00a0Currently, I am co-editing a volume on Asturian Studies in the twenty-first century. In 2023, I organized the second <a href=\"https:\/\/santinaconference.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAnTINA conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have a <em>Licenciatura<\/em> in Hispanic Philology from the University of Oviedo, Spain, and a PhD in Hispanic Cultural Studies from Michigan State University (directed by Jos\u00e9 Colmeiro).
